Drawing

I had such a nice Labor Day weekend.  Went shopping and out to dinner with my friend Sara on Saturday, then went shopping and out to lunch with my friend Stephanie on Sunday.  Today went to the Mud Hens baseball game with Cory's whole family then ate at the spaghetti Warehouse for Kyle's b-day.
I have been drawing a lot lately and wanted to put some pictures up for anyone to critic. I am loving to draw more and more.  For some reason I cannot  get past working on eyes.  I just want to get them down before I move on to anything else.
One day when I retire I will have so much more time to devote to drawing.  I have always sketched in pencil... but one day I ran across a colored pencil and I was in love.  I think they are so great.  So I went to Hobby Lobby to buy some more colored pencils and found these markers that are pens.  I bought a couple and used them and now I am obsessed with them.  I had to go back and buy them in all different colors. So I now have tons of pencils, colored pencils and now pen markers. Having so much fun using them.

Air Show

Every year my work has our annual work party the day of the air show. It is really great as I work at the airport and I see planes all day long.  For our picnic they cater food in and you can eat and drink everything you want and watch the air show. We have it in our hanger a couple of doors down. I was very busy last week as I am on the committee along with a several other people and the week before is always so busy for us as we have last minute arrangements and set up to do.  This year my duties were to hire the face painters, buy the oranges, order and buy the shirts for the committee members and volunteers, set up and bounce house duty and welcome desk duty.  Oh and find the photographer.
I got up very early Saturday morning and I got to work for set up and last minute things. Our show starts at 10:30.  It was a wonderful day, very hot but no rain.  Food was great and so many employees showed up with their families.  What a nice day.  I helped take pictures and watched the bounce house and made sure the face painters arrived and got them set up.
I invited my family of course. Eva, Brady and Jake and my husband of course all came.  Brady comes every year so he knew what to expect but Eva always wondered what it was like. I was glad they all came.  Eva had to leave at 2pm to go to a birthday party so Cory and I watched the kids. We finally packed up our things and left the air show around 3:45 pm.  Jake who was in the bounce house non stop was asleep in 2 mins. I got them back to their house and we relaxed and I ordered pizza for us all. After we ate I got the boys showered and in their pj's.  Put Jake to bed at 8:30 pm and spend some quality alone time with Brady.  Eva and Jason got home around 9ish.  I went home around 10pm so by the time I got home it was almost 11 pm. I went right to sleep. I slept so hard!  Woke up at 8:30 am and I never sleep that late. I would have slept longer if it hadn't been for a phone call. I felt so tired all day. My friend and I was supposed to go out today and I am glad that

she asked if she could just come over and visit instead.
I am now in bed trying to keep my eyes open and wishing I did not have to be up at 4:30am to go to work tomorrow.

MacBook Pro

Well I did it.... I finally broke down and got a macbook.  I have been wanting one for years!  Just could not break down and spend the money for one.  I finally decided what am I waiting for?  So I started to look on Ebay and Craigslist for a deal.  Took weeks but finally found one that I was comfortable getting. I  absolutely love it.  I don't know why I waited so long.  It is wonderful and it sync's with my iPhone and iMac.   I only got one that had 4gb of ram so I bought 16gb of ram today and it should be here tomorrow or Thursday.  Eric at work said he will install it for me. So excited.  I have decided that I shouldn't wait for things I want for so long.  I should get them.  Enjoy them.

Baby duck

I love, love, love this picture of this baby duck. Let me know what you think of it.  I love taking pictures of animals.  Love taking pictures of birds. I would carry a camera with me where ever I go if I could.  This picture makes me smile every time I look at it.

Wedding News

I am so happy to announce that my daughter is getting married.  At long last.  I love her fiance so much too.  I could not have picked a better person for her.  I have been in mother of the bride mode ever since.  Basically out of control. lol.

Kaitlin asked me to come to California to look for a dress with her.  I was so touched that she asked me.  So I packed up and flew there to help.  I am so glad that I went now.  I had not seen their new place yet and had not seen the two dogs, except for face time.

I had a wonderful time. We went out and they showed me around, and they also took me to Miami.
We went to look for dresses and finally found "the one".  She tried on so many but when she walked out we all knew that was the one.  So beautiful.

She is getting married on Feb 20th, 2016.  We are going on a cruise to the Bahama's.

Do I feel old now.... no I feel great.   I feel like I raised a very strong, independent person. So proud of her.

I cant wait for the upcoming months with all the preparations coming.

I am not allowed to post pictures of her wedding dress yet so I will post of all of us in Miami.

Superbowl Sunday

I sat and pondered what I would make for Superbowl Sunday.  I thought what a huge day for crock pots.  Well I decided I was going to forego the crock-pot this week as I wanted more "football" like snacks and meal.

I sat down Saturday morning and made a list of everything I would need  to make nacho's and rye toast breads.  It takes me an hour to get my sister to get up and get around to go.  I finally get her in the car and off we go to Meijer's at 11 am.  I thought it was odd that there were no parking spots but didn't say anything as I don't mind walking anyways...but then I notice the minute we walk into the store that there is a line that went on for as long as my eyes can see.  I look and there are no carts and people are in line waiting for them.  I looked around and commented... "what is going on here".  Someone heard me and said a winter storm is coming.  I could not believe it. I admit I don't listen to the weather reports but I cant believe I didn't hear about this storm.  Everyone was there and they were all buying food like snowmageden is coming.  It took us 25 mins to get a cart and we started grabbing stuff. They were out of some of the things I needed, of course.  We had to go past the clothing to get in line.  We were in line for an hour and every line was open.  It was crazy.
I was so happy when I got out of there. I called Cory to tell him to stop at the store to get the rest of them stuff as he was at work in another city.
Cory saved the day and brought everything else home that I needed.  We decided to celebrate as we  didn't have to leave the house until Monday morning.  So we were going to rent a movie on demand and make a pizza.  We put the pizza in the oven and Cory jumped in the shower.
My sister and I were on our computers when we hear a big BOOM.  We both looked at each other and I got up to see what that was.  I walked in the kitchen and I noticed the oven off.  I let Cory know and he said it was probably the fuse.  After he got out of the shower he went and flipped the fuse and sure enough it came on. But it locked up and kept beeping and had a huge F1 on the screen.  I had a bad feeling. Cory starting working on it and there was a huge boom again and 2 large sparks came out.  We shut it down.
I was so upset as what are we going to eat for the Superbowl.  Plus we had nothing for dinner. We decided to go to bed and worry about it in the morning.
So this morning when I woke up, Cory had already been out and picked up breakfast for us.   My mom gave us an idea to buy a  hot plate.  So off Cory went in the snow again for a hot plate.  He ended up getting the nuwave cooktop.  I have to say it worked really good.  So Superbowl Sunday was saved.
Tomorrow we will have a repair man come to see if the oven can be saved.

Crockpot Pork chops

Today I decided to make something with pork chops.  I love Pork chops.  Here is the recipe I used:

6 boneless pork chops
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon ginger
2 cloves garlic, crushed.  ( I minced mine)
Salt and pepper to taste  (didnt need any)

Put pork chops in crock pot.

Mix the rest of the ingredients and pour over the chops and put on low for 6 hours or high for 2-3 hours.

My thoughts on this was it was not sweet enough.  I added some additional brown sugar to it until I liked the way it tasted.  I put it over rice.  Would I make it again..... probably not.
