Halloweekend at Cedar Point

Saturday I got up bright and early and made my way over to John and Laura's. For Laura's birthday she had said she would really like to go to Cedar Point. There were going to be 6 people going but in the end only 3 of us could go. John called his friend to make it 4 people. It was a really nice sunny day, and I really didn't get very cold till around 10 pm at night. I liked the Halloween decorations all around the park. At night the employee's dressed up in scary costumes and scare you in Frontier Land. That was the best time. I was given grief for not riding the big roller coasters. But I loved going and spending time with my friend Laura. I was sad that Stephanie ended up getting very sick and couldn't make it. I didn't get back home till a little after 3 am. Boy am I tired today, but I still had a lot of stuff to do today. Now I am getting ready to sit in my recliner and watch a little tv and go to bed.

chiminea

We have been looking for a fire pit for quite a while now and have not found one we love that is in our price range. Cory's sister said she had a chiminea that we can have if we wanted it. We went over to take a look at it and it was pretty cool. It is cast iron and very, very heavy. We managed to get it back home and we had our neighbors over to the inaugural fire lighting ceremony. It heated up very well. Had a very nice time with our friends and being around the fire.

Scarecrow craft project

I wanted a scarecrow for my yard and I had a idea of what I wanted but when I went looking for one they did not have one. So I settled for one at Joanne Fabrics to stick in my yard. I was leaving for work on Monday and happened to look at my neighbors fall decorations and saw the scarecrow I was wanting for my yard. I was so shocked. I waited all week to see my neighbor to ask her where she got it but never saw her. I finally saw her Saturday night and she told me she made it. She said her parents and family always made one at Halloween time. She told me that she would teach me how to do it on Sunday. So I barely spent all night as all I could think about was making this scarecrow. I got up and went to get some stuff for this scarecrow. I went to goodwill and found a cute straw hat for him. Unfortunately they only had green but I didn't care. So I made him and boy did I have so much fun!!!! I just couldn't believe how much fun it was. It is really so easy. I had the best time making him and the most perfect fall weather to match. Below is a picture of him.

My house

Well I know I have promised that I would show you pictures of my house. Before and after pictures that is. So I am posting them now.........This is the before picture. The shutters where made of wood so they were all ready half coming off and were missing some of the pieces.

This is after. I still have a lot to do to it. We will get new steps next spring. Also new house numbers. I have muratic acid to get the white junk off the brick next to the shutters and below it. It is coming along slow but sure.

This is picture is some halloween/fall decoration I put in the yard.

Absence

I have not been on my blog in a long, long time. I just got caught up in summer activities and so forth. I think summer goes by so fast. It seemed like June was just here and now fall is here. Oh how I love summer time. Fall is also beautiful. I cant believe how time flys. I have been so busy at work I missed all of the summer. So to catch up with what I have been doing....I have just been working, working and working. It has been so busy at my job now. I am glad that it looks like we weathered the storm at work and now things are back on the upswing. We have even started hiring back some of the people that we laid off.
Kaitlin is back and she moved in with me and Cory yesterday. She got a job at Best Buy. So far as temporary seasonal help but I am hopeful that she will be hired in as permanent after the holidays. She also hit a deer a couple of weeks ago. Really wrecked her car. It is in the process of getting fixed right now. I should have reminded her that she is now in Michigan and there are deer everywhere. Right now she is borrowing my car while we borrow one of Cory's mom and dad's car.
The real blow this summer is when Laura's mom died. She was hit while driving a motorcycle. I just couldn't believe it as Laura's mom was so wonderful. I was lucky enough to spend lots of time with her and know her. She was one of a kind. I will certainly miss her. Laura has been going thru so much losing her mom. I feel so helpless now knowing what to do to make her feel better. I wish I could make it better. Laura's birthday is coming up on the 19th of this month. I want her to have fun. So we talked and she wants to go to Cedar Point. That is where we are going this Saturday. Going with John, Laura, Dane, Stephanie, Cory and I. It should be fun. All I can do is be there for Laura.
I will be back on my blog now. I promise.
