Halloweekend at Cedar Point

Saturday I got up bright and early and made my way over to John and Laura's. For Laura's birthday she had said she would really like to go to Cedar Point. There were going to be 6 people going but in the end only 3 of us could go. John called his friend to make it 4 people. It was a really nice sunny day, and I really didn't get very cold till around 10 pm at night. I liked the Halloween decorations all around the park. At night the employee's dressed up in scary costumes and scare you in Frontier Land. That was the best time. I was given grief for not riding the big roller coasters. But I loved going and spending time with my friend Laura. I was sad that Stephanie ended up getting very sick and couldn't make it. I didn't get back home till a little after 3 am. Boy am I tired today, but I still had a lot of stuff to do today. Now I am getting ready to sit in my recliner and watch a little tv and go to bed.

Anniversary

Today is my anniversary. It is 3 years today that I married Cory. Time does fly. Cory waited up till midnight to tell me happy anniversary. lol Cory got me a diamond eternity band for our anniversary. I don't have it yet as it had to be ordered. I am so excited for it to come in. I am very lucky to have such a great guy!

chiminea

We have been looking for a fire pit for quite a while now and have not found one we love that is in our price range. Cory's sister said she had a chiminea that we can have if we wanted it. We went over to take a look at it and it was pretty cool. It is cast iron and very, very heavy. We managed to get it back home and we had our neighbors over to the inaugural fire lighting ceremony. It heated up very well. Had a very nice time with our friends and being around the fire.

Scarecrow craft project

I wanted a scarecrow for my yard and I had a idea of what I wanted but when I went looking for one they did not have one. So I settled for one at Joanne Fabrics to stick in my yard. I was leaving for work on Monday and happened to look at my neighbors fall decorations and saw the scarecrow I was wanting for my yard. I was so shocked. I waited all week to see my neighbor to ask her where she got it but never saw her. I finally saw her Saturday night and she told me she made it. She said her parents and family always made one at Halloween time. She told me that she would teach me how to do it on Sunday. So I barely spent all night as all I could think about was making this scarecrow. I got up and went to get some stuff for this scarecrow. I went to goodwill and found a cute straw hat for him. Unfortunately they only had green but I didn't care. So I made him and boy did I have so much fun!!!! I just couldn't believe how much fun it was. It is really so easy. I had the best time making him and the most perfect fall weather to match. Below is a picture of him.

My house

Well I know I have promised that I would show you pictures of my house. Before and after pictures that is. So I am posting them now.........This is the before picture. The shutters where made of wood so they were all ready half coming off and were missing some of the pieces.

This is after. I still have a lot to do to it. We will get new steps next spring. Also new house numbers. I have muratic acid to get the white junk off the brick next to the shutters and below it. It is coming along slow but sure.

This is picture is some halloween/fall decoration I put in the yard.

Absence

I have not been on my blog in a long, long time. I just got caught up in summer activities and so forth. I think summer goes by so fast. It seemed like June was just here and now fall is here. Oh how I love summer time. Fall is also beautiful. I cant believe how time flys. I have been so busy at work I missed all of the summer. So to catch up with what I have been doing....I have just been working, working and working. It has been so busy at my job now. I am glad that it looks like we weathered the storm at work and now things are back on the upswing. We have even started hiring back some of the people that we laid off.
Kaitlin is back and she moved in with me and Cory yesterday. She got a job at Best Buy. So far as temporary seasonal help but I am hopeful that she will be hired in as permanent after the holidays. She also hit a deer a couple of weeks ago. Really wrecked her car. It is in the process of getting fixed right now. I should have reminded her that she is now in Michigan and there are deer everywhere. Right now she is borrowing my car while we borrow one of Cory's mom and dad's car.
The real blow this summer is when Laura's mom died. She was hit while driving a motorcycle. I just couldn't believe it as Laura's mom was so wonderful. I was lucky enough to spend lots of time with her and know her. She was one of a kind. I will certainly miss her. Laura has been going thru so much losing her mom. I feel so helpless now knowing what to do to make her feel better. I wish I could make it better. Laura's birthday is coming up on the 19th of this month. I want her to have fun. So we talked and she wants to go to Cedar Point. That is where we are going this Saturday. Going with John, Laura, Dane, Stephanie, Cory and I. It should be fun. All I can do is be there for Laura.
I will be back on my blog now. I promise.

Myrtle Beach trip

Last week we got a email from someone from work saying that they were sending a empty plane to Myrtle Beach on Saturday. They were repositioning a plane there. Asked if anyone was interested to let them know. We would leave Saturday around noonish and come back Sunday evening around 6pm. We could bring someone if we like. I was so shocked as they have never done that before. I signed Cory and I up right away. But I was unsure if I wanted to actually go. It was Thursday evening we got the email and it was Saturday we were leaving. I was really unsure. Cory was all on board with the whole idea. We just had to find a hotel room and I was having trouble finding one as they were all booked up. I really didn't know if I was going to go at all. Even when I woke up Saturday morning I was still unsure. It was pouring Saturday and there was lightning. By the time I got there I figured I might as well go. I must say I had the best time! It was great. We stayed in a condo with a few other people. We ate out a a few different places and went to Broadway on the Beach. The Sunday we enjoyed the ocean. It was the best trip by far. I guess I am just not that spontaneous as I thought. I am glad I went now. I will definitely go the next time they do this.

Yard work

So Saturday I went over to John and Laura's to hang out by the pool. We stayed there till around 4:30pm. We went home and relaxed the rest of the night. Boy my throat still hurt so bad. When I got up Sunday it still hurt but a little better. I had a lump there that just wouldn't go away. We did our garden crawl and I really didn't see anything I wanted. I got my friend Leslie some mums but that was it. Cory and I decided to check out stuff for the house. What a long day shopping. We went everywhere looking at mailboxes and numbers for the house and a outside lamp. I did find a new store I love and its called Aco. It has so many gardening stuff in there. It was a pretty cool store. I will be putting that store into my rotation. I found a mailbox there and we got some stuff for the yard. We we out shopping so long that we didn't start grilling out till late so we didn't eat till very late. I think that last thing I am going to do to the outside of the house is paint the piece above our door. After I do that then I am willing to put a picture of our house up on the Internet. I cant wait to show everyone the radical change from when I started. I feel so proud of myself for doing it myself and my yard and how great it looks. It really is therapeutic. I decided that I am painting in two weeks. My friend Leslie is going to help me. That will make a huge difference!

Work woes

I have had such a bad week at work. We have been short handed since we have people out on vacation in different departments. All of us are stressed. Plus one of my employee's is leaving. He was offered a open position in the police academy. So happy for him. I can honestly say I was thrilled last night when I left work. I have been working late all week so I am so tired. On top of that I have a sore throat. I cannot swallow at all. I am up and not feeling like doing anything. but laying in bed all day! I refuse to have my weekend cut short so I will be getting up soon and going over to John and Laura's to hang out by the pool till 4pm. Then come home and relax and watch a movie and go to bed.

Ballgame

Last Saturday Kaitlin came over and we went out shopping. Garden center shopping. She was a really good sport about it. Then we went to lunch and went back home. Cory got home from work and we got ready to go out that night. We stopped by John and Laura's to visit with them. Then we went to Ben and Sherry's house. We went to the Mud Hens game. After the game we went to Pizza Papolis to eat. Very good pizza. We had a great time.
Sunday Cory and I went on our garden crawl to see what was on clearance. I bought my boxwood bushed for 4.00 a pc and came home to plant them. Boy I sure does make a big difference in the back yard. I cant wait to start ripping up part of the back yard to make a patio. It will look so nice.
I got around and went over to Jason's house so I could watch Brady. I was so excited to see Brady! Kaitlin and Jason had a softball game and I said I would babysit. I decided to take Brady to the game to watch them. He was so good. I cant believe what a good boy he is. I cant wait to babysit again.
I just remembered about Shipshewanna. I don't know why I forgot about it but I did. Now I am starting to think of a date to go. Going to see if anyone wants to go.

Day off blues

Last Sunday Cory and I went on our usual clearance plant shopping. I didn't find anything I needed. I did buy 4 english dwarf boxwoods a 4.00 a piece. We took Justin back to Chris's house and saw Kaitlin's room. My brother Jason called and asked Kaitlin if she wanted to be on his softball league. So she is playing softball on Sunday nights with him. I did plant my boxwoods that night and we grilled out. We grilled salmon. It was really good.
I took Monday off to spend time with Kaitlin. We got up really early and went to Jackson to see my mom and dad. Mom gave me some flowers and I started getting a migraine. It continued to get worse. We left and I got something to eat and took my migraine medicine and we drove home. It makes me really tired. We were supposed to go see my brother and Brady but Jason was really tired. I just could not get motivated I was so tired. So Kaitlin went back to Chris's and I relaxed and went to bed early. I was really bummed! I wanted to do so much on my day off and it was ruined by a migraine.

Air show

On Saturday we had the air show which featured the Blue Angels. Our company always schedules our company picnic the same day. Which is really nice since we can watch the air show from our hanger and they provide the food and beverages. It was a nice cool day, not like the hot 90 degree days of past air shows. We had the biggest turn out ever this year. No one knows why but I think the weather has a lot to do with it. Plus I am sure people are staying close to home and doing small and inexpensive things like a air show vs a huge vacation. Cory, Kaitlin and I went. Also got tickets for Melissa (cousin) and our niece Jordon, nephew Justin and nephew Kyle. We had a very nice time. The traffic coming in to the air show was pretty bad. I was told people were in line for 2 1/2 hrs. We were going to leave before the Blue Angels but didn't make it. So we stayed and watched them. I was so bummed only because of I knew the traffic getting out of there was going to be terrible so I wanted to leave before the show. Also wanted to stop by John and Laura's. So we waited 2 plus hrs getting out of there after the show. Ugh. We had Justin with us so when we finally got home we were so exhausted that we all just wanted to go to bed.

Kaitlin moved home!

I am very excited to announce that my daughter has moved back to Michigan. She was living in Florida for a few years with her best friend. Her friend decided to move back home so Kaitlin was all by herself and she was lonely. Plus she couldn't afford to live by herself. She was supposed to come home Friday but Kaitlin surprised me by showing up at my house Tuesday night. I was so shocked. But very happy she is back.
Brady is sitting up now! I just cant believe the growth spurt he has had. Wow. I am make a date to see him soon. I need to spend some quality time with him.

I had a cold that would not go away. I started coughing and felt it in my chest. I never get chest colds or cough when I am sick. I let it go for 7 days and finally went to the doctors and found out it was acute bronchitis. I am finally feeling better now. It is sure taking a long time for this to go away.
We went out with our friends Bobby and Leslie to the bowling alley. I have not been bowling since.....I don't know when. We had so much fun. We went out to eat first then bowling. The bowling alley closes early in the summer (weird) so we decided we would go play putt putt golf. We went on the go carts first then played putt putt. It was so fun! After that we went to a pizza place and had pizza and breadstix. It was a very nice night.
Went to out yacht club regatta over the weekend also and it was a lot of fun. Everyone was there. Laura, Stephanie and I had a great time.
I went on my Sunday shopping trip to Lowe's to check out the bargains. I got a honeysuckle bush for 2.00. It is very fragrant. I am going to get a trellis to have it climb on. Right now I need boxwood bushes but I refuse to pay full cost for them. So I have been waiting for them to go on sale. I can wait them out...........

Retirement party

I went to my mom's retirement party yesterday in Jackson. It was a really nice party they had for her. A lot of people came to say goodbye to her. It was really sad for me too as I grew up at that hospital and all the people there. It was where she worked all my life. It was a really big day for my mom to say goodbye to all the people she has known and goodbye to a place where she considered her 2nd home. A chapter closed and now another one has opened. Congratulation's on your retirement. Enjoy it!!

Happy Retirement day

Today is my mom's last day at work. She is retiring today. Boy is she excited. They are throwing her a retirement party at work today for her last day. So I am making my way to Jackson to make a appearance at her party. I want to be there for her last day. She has been there as long as I can remember. Now the only big decision she will have is what to do each day. Boy I cant wait till I can retire. Off to Jackson I go.

4th of July BBQ

Went to a BBQ yesterday at Uncle Johns and Aunt Beths. It was a great turnout. The food was great. I made a strawberry jello cake with cool whip frosting. I decorated it with with the flag. I used blueberrys and strawberrys. It turned out so cute. Had a great time at the bbq! Stayed a lot longer than I expected! Luckily I dont work today as it is my holiday. I worked Friday so I got today off. It's our turn to have the bbq next month. Oh boy.

Sold

I sold my old Iphone Thursday just under 180.00. I was really pleased. I was a lot more than I thought I would get. I was so anxious for the auction to get over with as I needed it to sell so I could afford to buy another one. I was hoping the buyer would pay same day so I could get my new iphone the same day but they paid today. I woke up bright and early today and Cory and I dropped Parker off at the groomers and we made our way to Ann Arbor to the Apple store. They were so busy there. I finally got my new phone today. I looks just like the old one. But it is a lot lighter. I sent out my old phone to the buyer today. After we got my phone we went to lunch at Bennigans then I went straight to work. It was so slow at work. Caught up and so much as I had the time. Had to work all night and it just dragged. Tomorrow I have to make dessert to take to the cookout we are going to Sunday. We bring dessert and corn on the cob.

Ebay

I am selling my IPhone on Ebay right now. I have bought and sold on Ebay over the years so I am comfortable using them. I want to buy the new Apple IPhone they just came out with. It's 199.00. It is a 3 day auction and yesterday (the 2nd day of the auction) there was still no bids on it. I really started to worry. But this morning with only 5hrs left on my auction 3 people bid on my phone. Right now its selling at 105.00. Which is good as you can get a old IPhone for 99.00. So I only have 4hrs left now and I will be happy with the bid I have. Whatever else I get will be bonus. I have never tried Craigs list and I am a little nervous about trying it. Maybe next time I will try it. So I am sitting here watching my auction and refreshing it constantly. lol Then Saturday I will go buy my new IPhone.

Grill

Cory's mom and dad gave us their grill they had from their camper. They sold it and no longer needed it as they already had one at the house. It was so nice of them! We have never had a grill. I was very excited when I heard they were giving it to us. We got it Sunday. We went to the grocery store and bought all the fixings for a grill out. After we were done working in the yard we grilled out. I turned out great. Cory made steaks. We also grilled corn on the cob and potato packets. Wow...its going to be great having a grill now.

Bearded Tongue

Well the plant is officially bearded tongue. I love it. I have another one that I planted in the back yard too. I picked up some astilbe yesterday at Lowe's for .75 cents. I also got a rhododendron for .50 there too. Our Lowe's puts there flowers on clearance all the time to get rid of everything. I love that. I have bought a lot of my flowers there for less than 1.00. I just wait and go there early on a Saturday and Sunday and go right to the clearance rack. You just have to be patient. I found out that one of the plants my mom gave me is called a hot poker. It is just stating to bloom. I love my Annabelle Hydrangea right now. Wow is it pretty. I will put some pictures on here soon of my flower bed.

Skype

Well yet again I am surprised by all the high tech stuff out there. I cant believe I wasnt aware of Skype. My mom told me that Jason and Brady Skyped her. She told me all about it. You have to download Skype which takes less than 5 minutes. All you need is a webcam and the other person has to have a web cam also. Best part is its free. You can see the person you are talking to. So mom was able to see Brady and Jason and talk to them. I downloaded it yesterday as mom was going to babysit Brady and I haven't seen him in a while. When you download it you have the option to put in your email address so it will check all your contacts and tell you who else has Skype. My friend Jane was on there so it asked if I wanted them to send a message to let her know I was now on Skype. I did. So after I was done which again took all of 4 minutes to down load and set up, I was getting ready to do some errands. Then all of a sudden Jane Skyped me. It really is neat. I got to see my friend as I talked to her. How cool is that. I got to see Brady that night too as we Skyped each other. Kris and Diane, you guys should get that and you guys can see each other while you talk. You can also Video conference so all the sisters could see each other and talk together too. I love that its free. I plan on Skyping Brady and Jason all the time. My friend Jane told me that it was really useful when her daughter moved to London and she got to see her and her grandchild using Skype. Let me know if anyone else has ever heard of Skype.

Coming home

It has been a long week. I need a vacation from my vacation. lol We have been busy so that is making the week go by fast. Of course Cory has to work this weekend so I wont be able to see him. I have a lot to catch up on this weekend. I have laundry and there are so many weeds that I must pull. My mom gave me this plant last year at the end of summer. I planted it and cut it off and covered it for winter. It came back and I was asking about this plant. It is so boring. Just does nothing. Just leafy. I was wondering if that is all it does. Don't get me wrong the leaves are pretty they have a reddish tone. She finally told me its called a bearded tongue. She said to give it time and it will bloom. I had almost gave up hope......and magically it started to change and it bloomed. I love it. I immediately asked me mom if she has any more to give me. I took a picture of it to show everyone....enjoy. Keep in mind that it looked so much better before yesterday as we have a down pour of rain. So far I have not killed any of my plants and flowers. I have learned so much about planting. Since it was my first time I have already thought that I should move stuff into better areas and so on. Its a learning experience but wow what a feeling it gives you. I feel like they are my little friends. lol

Dogs are still doing great. Get along perfectly. I think Farley needed a buddy. I found out that Brady is having surgery next Wednesday. He is having tubes put in his ears. Its for the best as he always has ear infections. Jason and I are going to skype so I can see Brady and talk to him. Crazy. Since we both have a webcam we can get on Skype and we can see and talk to each other over it. Its crazy. Times are sure changing.
*****all right I was just told that this is not bearded tongue. It is phlox. What does this bearded tongue look like?******

Cruising

I got home late evening last night. I was so tired. I just could not stay up. I was out like a light by 10:30 pm. It was nice to come home and see Cory and the dogs. And of course my own bed is always nice. Kaitlin met us in Ft. Lauderdale and spent the night with all of us so she could spend time with everyone. The cruise was fun. I loved checking out Key West. I even had a piece of Key Lime pie there...yum. It was so hot that day. I would definitely go back for another visit. Cozumel was hot too and boy did it change from the last time I was there. I found a lot of stuff there I really liked. I bought a few loose stones so I can have Frank the jeweler make a ring or necklace out of them. There was no rain our whole trip. You couldn't have asked for better weather. All and all the cruise was a big success. Have many more pictures....

Parker

Well we finally named the puppy! It took forever. We tried a million names and just nothing clicked with me to say....that's it! Cory told me yesterday that if I didn't name him before I left he would name him while I was gone. So I figured I better get on the ball. I told Cory when we got the puppy that he looked a lot like this dog on a movie I watched on Life Time with Elizabeth Shue. I knew when I watched the movie I really liked the name of the dog but could not for the life of me remember what it was. I finally decided to research this movie and found it on line and watched it and as soon as I heard the dogs name Parker I looked at the puppy and said....that's it! So Parker it is! The puppy naming saga is over.

I plan of going to bed very early tomorrow as I have to get up at 4:30 in the morning. We get on the boat Thursday afternoon. We go to Key West first then Cozumel. Be back home Monday early evening.
Hopefully have lots of pictures when I get back. Bye for now.

Sunday shopping

I was so tired Saturday night. I just couldn't stay awake. For some reason I wasn't in the mood to go shopping. I don't know why. I think it was because I was tired. Baby doe slept the whole night with me. Sunday I had a lot of random things to do. I had to still find a bathing suit. I finally found one that I can live with. I still cannot find a formal dress for the formal dinner night on the cruise. I am getting very stressed out about it. I had bought one a while ago and it doesn't seem dressy enough now. So I ran around a little more today and all I wanted to do was stay home. We worked out in the yard all day and the puppies played all day in the back yard. I still haven't packed. I am really nervous about going on this cruise for various reasons. Today I work my regular shift and tomorrow I work days then I am on vacation!

Cruise shopping

I picked up the puppy in the morning and was very nervous about how Farley and him would get along. It was Farley's house first. But they did. They played all day. We still haven't named him and we cannot think of a name at all. We have been calling him doe (as in john doe). Anyone have any suggestions?
Met everyone at Olive Garden and had a nice lunch. We started out at Kohl's, then Old Navy, then to the mall. Finally we all went home. I ran over to Target real quick to check out the bathing suits. I still need a bathing suit and a formal dress. I will be running out today to check out Gap and Elder Beerman. I want to work out in yard today. Have weeding to do.

Hockey

This week at work has been so busy for me. I cannot believe it. I could not catch up. Then yesterday it was slow. That is how it is at my job. You just cannot predict how busy it will be day to day. I was just so happy to be able to leave work last night and put the whole week behind me. The Stanley cup play offs were last night and the Red Wings were playing. I work with mostly all men and they talk sports non stop. So it is no surprise that they love the Wings and they have talked hockey for......it seems like years....but only since the the hockey season started. I mess with them about the Wings all the time. They played the Pittsburgh Penguins last night. I came into work yesterday wearing this shirt with a penguin on it. They were not amused. They gave me grief all night long. I just couldn't resist. lol
My friend Laura asked me to stop by her house as they were having a bon fire so I headed over since I knew Cory was at a baseball game with his friends. Had a nice time and met a lot of new people. My husband and one of his friends ended up showing up after the game.
I have a big day today. I am going to pick up this puppy that someone had left at the Monroe Animal Shelter. I am shocked I am getting another puppy. Have not came up with a name yet for him. I am bringing him home today. Then I am meeting the girls at Olive Garden today for lunch and then we are all going shopping for cruise stuff. I cant believe I leave on Wed. I am staying home the rest of the weekend to pack and clean the house and spend time with my hubby and the dogs.

Hi Tech

I feel so high tech. I was on my itunes over the weekend and decided to rent, yes rent, a movie. I can download it to my iphone to watch on the plane. Then I bought a audio book and downloaded it on my Iphone. Gone are the days of lugging a heavy laptop and dvd player when you go on trips. I have it all on my iphone. How cool is that. I am all set up with something to do on the way there and on the way back on the plane now. I bought myself a lands end tote a week ago as they were on sale and there was free shipping. So I bought a med. size bag and got it embroidered and it should be here this week. I plan on taking that on the plane with me. I had gotten a small lands end tote many years ago as a white elephant x-mas present and fell in love with it. They are really nice bags. I am on my way to being all set for my trip.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAITLIN

Yesterday was Kaitlin's birthday. I really wish she was here so I could celebrate it with her. I did find out recently that she might move back home. She called a couple of weeks ago when she left here to go back home and said that it may be time. She is all by herself now since Tara (her roommate) left to move back home. So she is thinking it may be to expensive to do it on her own. I was excited but kept my cool. I talked to her yesterday and she is around 98 percent positive she is coming back. Her lease is up Aug. 26th. I will go down there to help her pack and move her back up here. I do think its the best thing but will support whatever decision she makes. Happy birthday Katie. I love you!!!

Iced cappuccino's

What is going on with all these coffee drinks? I went to a Starbucks one day and it sounded like all the people in front of me were talking a different language. Like they were part of some club and had their own language they spoke and I wasn't privy to it. I felt silly when they got to me and I ordered a regular coffee. I think I kinda startled her because at first she didn't say anything then starting asking me all these questions. Apparently they have different blends of coffee. Good grief. I just make my Maxwell House and enjoy that. Well someone at work was bringing in these coffee drinks from Tim Horton's all the time. I finally asked what they were and was told they were iced coffee drinks. I wasn't really all that interested as I am a creature of habit and that would have upset my apple cart trying something new. So this week he brought me in one out of the blue. I tried and and loved it!! Where have these been all my life?? Ever since I had one I have been thinking of them constantly. I finally stopped at Tim Horton's and picked one up on the way to work today. It was just as good if not better. I have to say I am addicted. I am up early this morning as I cannot sleep (hopefully not because of the iced coffee I drank earlier). I am actually thinking about running up to Tim Horton's to get one right now. I am positive there is something in that drink that makes people addicted to it. So I am going to enter this strange and fascinating world of coffee drinks. Maybe I can talk this strange, yet fascinating language when I order there.

Half broken leg

Well it has come to my attention that I must now speak about what happened to my leg. I haven't mentioned it because I technically don't consider it broke. I still don't understand quite what happened but it was something like this: I was working in the yard (of course) and I had the hose out and the blower was out also. It was the first time I ever used the blower and it had never been out of the box. The cord is so long so you can plug it in and walk all over to blow the leaves or whatever. My foot got tangled in the hose or the blower cord (I never took the time out from all my crying to look at which cord) and I fell. Now mind you I fell straight down but my lower leg decided to go the opposite way. Of course my leg came down on the brick retaining wall. I have all this yard in which to fall on cushy grass but no! I fall on the wall which is not even very wide. I went into the doctors the next day and they took x-rays. It is a hairline fracture. Not very big at all. But I have this ugly thing I have to wear and it makes me sweat and when I sweat then I want to itch it. Its a vicious circle really. Couldn't have happened in the winter time when there is nothing to do! Doctor said if I baby it then I should be good for my cruise. Of course I twisted it today at work. So it is back to hurting really bad. I am resting it from now on. So now you know the rest of the story....... thanks mom

Weekends plans

Here it is.....another Friday. I have one of my employee on vacation today and we have been so busy. I know it will be a busy night tonight. I have an appt. for Farley to go to the groomers tomorrow. While he is there I am running over to the relay for life for a while. Then I am coming to Jackson. Yes you heard correctly, I will be in Jackson for the weekend. My mom is out of town in Chicago with her sisters, so I want to be there in case my dad needs help. I figured I might as well take my bed and jetski back home with me too. Going to try to see my friend Debbie while I am there. Also going to pick up a worlds famous Andy's pizza!! Yum. They have the best pizza I ever had. Sunday plan of working in the yard a little.
I put together a little get together for all the girls that are going on the cruise. We are all meeting at Olive Garden next Saturday to have lunch and then go shopping for all the little things we need for our cruise. I am very excited. I got confirmation from all the girls that they can make it. I will have a very busy week. I will have to update my blogger from my cell phone and post some pictures for you all to see when I am on vacation. Time to leave.... I have a lot of errands today before work......

A friend

My friend Foy passed away today. I knew it was coming but it still was so upsetting when I found out. I posted a blog about him and going to lunch with him and his wife and some work people a while back. If you click here it will take you to the blog with his picture. He ended up going into the hospital a short time after that and kept coming down with different ailments and then getting infections and finally they decided to let him go home with hospice to go in peace. Foy battled brain tumor's not once but multiple times. He was an amazing person. I met him at work and he always said hi to everyone and had a smile on his face and would go out of his way to do anything for anyone. He was the kindest person I know. I will miss him.

Cruise

My cruise is coming up so quick now. I am so excited. I am working days on June 16th so I will go home and do last minute packing and errands then get to bed early. We leave June 17th and will fly into Ft Lauderdale. We should get there around noon so we will have all day to enjoy looking around. The next day we board the cruise line Royal Caribbean. We stop in Cozumel and then Key West. It is our yearly girls trip. The usual people are going, Lana (mother-in-law) and Linda, Lana's sister, and Melissa, which is Linda's daughter, Chris (Cory's sister) and this year Michele is going. Should be a great time!! I will have so many pictures when I get back.

Golfing

Last Saturday I went on a golf outing for my job. It was in Tipp City OH. I went with 3 other people from work. I still cant believe I went. Anyone that knows me, knows that I have only golfed 1 other time and I ended up quiting in the middle of the game and driving everyone around in the golf cart. I knew it would not be good for me to go but I did. A company that we do business with sponsored it. Luckily it was a golf scramble. Of course someone had to explain to me what a scramble was. I had to be at Greg's (our salesperson) house at 7:30 am. When we got to the golf outing we decided to go to the driving range to hit some balls. I missed hitting the ball so many times that I thought I threw my arm out at one point. I don't understand the point of this game. How am I supposed to hit this tiny ball with basically a stick. It didn't seem to me a relaxing game at all. It made me frustrated. We finally tee'd off (listen to all these golf terms I learned). Ugh it was ugly for me. I was on a team with Will and Mark, both are my employee's. Will was giving me golfing advice. I did start getting a little better as the day went on....and boy did it go on.....18 holes! But I was at least making contact with the ball now and actually hit it pretty far a couple of times. I was actually starting to have fun and understanding the game a little bit. We finally finished and there was a bbq and then a awards celebration for the golf outing. I ended up getting home a little after 9 pm. Boy was I tired! I crawled into bed. But all and all I had a great time and I was glad I went.

My Memorial weekend

Sunday and Monday we continued to work in the yard. I cant believe all the work we did this Memorial Day weekend. It really needed it. Cory is so shocked at the difference it makes fixing up the yard. He is pleasantly surprised. He still has the poison ivy pretty bad. He is miserable. We were supposed to go to a bbq Saturday and Sunday at John and Laura's house but didn't make it. I feel so bad that we didn't make it over there, but I am glad we have the yard done so we have the summer to enjoy. We still have to get the shutters up but that will happen next weekend hopefully. I am so tired and sore from working in the yard. I really feel my age. Off to work I go......

planting

Today we got up early and went to some garden centers. Picked up 2 flats of Phlox for a dollar a flat. Then some other perennial flowers for .50 cents. They were on clearance and I couldn't resist. We finally got home and planted everything and finished mulching. It looks so nice. My exciting purchase of the day was a couple of hydrangeas. I love them. We are both so tired from working in the yard today. Going to bed early tonight as we are getting up and working in the yard again. We are mowing and weed whacking. Then I need to mulch my tree's in the back yard I planted.
Cory got poison ivy again this year. He gets it every year and we found out he is allergic to it. We have to find out where it is in the back yard and get rid of it. He always ends up having to get a shot and some antibiotics to get rid of it. Off to bed I go.

Memorial Weekend

I cant believe I am going to say this, but I have no plans for the weekend. I know, I am as surprised as you are. My brother is not having his annual bbq which surprised me, but he has to work. So I did get a call late last night from Laura asking for a girls night. So Stephanie, Laura and I are going over to her house tonight to watch movies and girl talk. But no other plans than that. I might get calls as I did last night to do things but I would like to concentrate on working in the yard. We will see what happens. What are your plans for the Memorial weekend?

Sore throat

I woke up Tuesday morning with a sore throat. I could hardly swallow. I was surprised as I hadn't had a sore throat since I had my tonsils out 12 yrs ago. As the day went on I started feeling worse, stuffy nose, body aches and very tired. I got home from work and crawled into bed. I woke up feeling even worse. Made my way to the doctors to hear that it is most likely strep throat. They did a culture and gave me a antibiotic. I went to work but was sent home as I just couldn't do it. I was a mess. Laid in a chair or bed the whole day falling in and out of sleep. Yesterday I woke up and still felt crappy..better....but still crappy. I went to work and as the day progressed every hour I started feeling better. It was weird. So I am on the mend. Glad that is behind me. Especially before my cruise. I haven't talked a lot about the cruise as it was still far away. I was talking to Michele about our trip and we realized its so close now. Will write more about our cruise soon.

BBQ

Yesterday was a very busy, busy day. We met all of Cory's family at Ralphies for lunch. We all had so much fun. The only person who could not attend was Michele as she was working. We stayed talking for a long time talking and Kaitlin suggested stopping by Chris's later to hang out. Jeremy said he would make his famous home made guacamole. We all left and told Chris we would possibly come over later. Kaitlin and I headed for Perrysburg to see Brady. Boy does he get cuter every time I see him. Kaitlin loved spending some time with him. We finally tore ourselves away from Brady and took off and decided to head to Chris's. Cory and Jeremy said they would meet us there. When we got there Chris had said her and Denny had picked up some hamburger and hot dogs and brats and figured we would grill out later. That was such a nice surprise. Levi and uncle John and Michele came over later and it turned into a full fledged bbq. Had such a fun time with everyone. We decided to have one once a month. Uncle John is hosting the next one. Today was a fun day of spending time with family!

End of the weekend

I woke up this morning and could not believe it was Sunday and I would have to go back to work tomorrow. Yesterday the pool staining party was cancelled due to rain. Cory and I decided to do some shopping. We picked up a movie called Taken then we went to Lowe's to check out patio tile. I happen to come across a dress at TJ Maxx for 19.00 that would be perfect to wear on the cruise the night we have to dress up. We stopped by Cory's parents to pick up Justin and we stayed a bit to visit. Then went home and made a pizza and I broke out the popcorn machine and made a couple batches for Justin and Kaitlin. I thought the movie Taken was ok. It was a pretty busy day.

Pool staining party

I have a couple of busy days. Picked Kaitlin up from the airport and we came home and caught up on everything going on with each other. She headed to Jackson today to see friends and will be back later on tonight. Her friends were all going to Silver Lake today and she wanted to go with them. Today I am going to pool staining party. Our friends John and Laura have a above ground pool with a deck all around it. We go over to swim there quite a lot during the summer. The deck needs a stain job so John has asked if anyone wants to volunteer to help him and we are going over. There are going to be around 10 people there so it should be very quickly. Its the least we can do since we use there pool. Nephew Justin is coming over today sometime to spend the night so I am sure we will be up late making popcorn and watching movies. Tomorrow we are going out to dinner with Cory's family. It is still up in the air what and where we are going, we are supposed to firm up plans sometime today.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CORY

Today is my husbands birthday!!! I hope he has a great day. No big plans as of yet but I am sure I will think of something since I have today off. It couldn't have worked out better that I took today off.

Kaitlin

Kaitlin is flying in today. I have to pick her up this morning around 10ish. I am a little nervous as I am hoping she will spend some time with me this trip. She has a tendency to go to Jackson and I don't see her. I took today off and plan on bonding with her. I feels like I haven't seen her in so long. I wished she lived closer.......

Busy...

I was so busy last week that I didn't have time to write. Work was crazy last week, I worked late every day. Saturday we got up to run over to Jason's to pick up my Granny Smith tree that my mom brought down. She was babysitting Brady, so I got to see him for a few mins. Then Cory took me to Lone Star Steakhouse for lunch. I love Lone Star. We planted 3 of the 4 tree's we got. I had to get ready to go to a yacht club function. Cory and I are members of the Ottawa River Yacht Club and I am on the women's auxillary committee. Sounds much fancier than it is, trust me. I was supposed to initiated last year but due to my surgery I could not. So this was the year. I really didn't want to do it, and I dreaded it for quite a while. A already initiated member has to bring you as their "pup" So I had to be a puppy till they initiate me. Its all in good fun. I ended up having a really good time. I still think it is a bit degrading having to wear a dog collar and drink out of a dog bowl but I understand why people think its fun. Had to go thru all the initiation rituals. Cannot post any pictures as it is supposed to be secret. I am going to bring Michele next year as my "pup".
Sunday went to Cory's mom and dad's for breakfast. Everyone was there. After breakfast Cory and the guys went to the Mud Hens baseball game and I went home and relaxed. Cory brought Justin (Nephew) home to wait for his mom to pick him up after the game. It was nice spending time with Justin. We made plans for Justin to come over next Saturday to work in the yard. Then we will make some popcorn in the popcorn machine and watch a movie.
Kaitlin is coming home this Thursday. I am so excited. I pick her up at the airport at 10am. I took Thursday off so I can spend the day with her. She is staying till Monday night.
I received a call from my doctors on Monday for a reminder of my appt the next day. They asked if I got the blood work done and I told them I did not. So they rescheduled my appt for this Friday and told me to get it done. I went yesterday and I got someone who when she stuck me with the needle she said uh oh, then started moving it all around while in my arm and said she would have to stick me again. I was so bummed. But I got it done. That is my week in a nut shell.

Doctors appt.

I had my doctors appt yesterday. It was just what I expected. Doctor asking a lot of questions......the biopsy was normal...which I wasn't worried about, I figured it would be. He showed me how big the nodule was. I will have to come back every 6mths for a ultrasound to see if it grows. I have a whole bunch of blood work to check my thyroid and some blood work for diabetes. I am sure he threw that in there because of my brother having it. I have to fast so I will go up to the hospital tomorrow to have the blood work done. I go back next week to go over the tests. Depending on what the blood work shows they will go over some options on what to do with my thyroid.

shower

Sunday was a very busy day for me. I got up at 7am and got ready to start my day. Had to pick up a couple more things for the shower gift. Then drove to Jackson and stopped at my moms to pick up some flowers she had for me. Then went to my sisters to help her set up for the party. She was having it at the clubhouse where she lives. Had a very nice time. I cant believe my nephew Josh will have a child. I still think of him as a child myself. I left and had to drive back home so I could plant the flowers my mom gave me. Then figure out where other stuff had to go. I mulched the other side of my flower bed. I only have the side left to do and I am done. I cant believe how much fun I have had. I have learned so much. My sister could not believe I was planting things. I have never been interested in gardening. My mom found me a granny smith tree at Meijers so she got it for me. Will bring it up next weekend when she comes up to babysit Brady.

I have my appt. for the endocrinologist today at 2pm. Hopefully find out about everything and get a plan of action.

Pictures are of Josh my nephew and my sister Missy.

Tree's

Cory had to work today so I got up and went to Lowe's to find some flowers and bushes to plant. I get there and they had all their tree's 50 percent off. I got a apple tree for 9.98. I was so excited how cheap it was that I took it right home. Then thought to myself I never got the flowers or bushes I went there for. I went back to Lowe's to find my stuff and started looking at the tree's again. I really want a Cleveland pear tree. They were on sale for 20.00 but decided to pass on it. I got home and Cory was there by then, so we were decided where we wanted stuff to go and our neighbors came out to talk to us and two hours later it was too late to plant. We ran out to get a movie and something to eat, as I hadn't eaten all day. We found a crab apple tree in the parking lot of a store for only 13.00. I cant remember the name......I think its vanguard crab apple. It doesn't get too big and it has the dark pink flowers on it. It is beautiful. So we picked that up and got the movie Bride Wars, under much protest from my husband. stopped by Meijers to pick up a Tombstone pizza and I happened to see some tree's in the garden center sitting out. Low and behold there was a Cleveland pear tree for 9.99. And it is pretty big. I bought it right away. I am now done with tree's for our yard.
I picked up a gift for my nephew Josh's baby shower tomorrow. They are naming the baby Carter Ross. How cute. He will be born May 21st, unless she goes into labor first. I will take lots of pictures tomorrow of the shower. It will be a long day for me as I have to get up early and drive to Jackson for the party. Its a hour and a half to get there, so a lot of driving for me tomorrow. Will post a couple of pictures as soon as I can.

Weekend plans

My husband is telling me since it is May 1st that since it is his b-day month (5-14) that he has deemed this his "birthday month". He is doing this because I make such a big deal out of my birthday every year. It started out as just my birthday day then my birthday weekend then my birthday week. So he has decided he will join me. I was not amused by his teasing. I am sure I will here about this for a while. I think he thinks it will teach me a lesson. Oh silly man..... it will not.
I really don't have any major plans for this weekend. I plan on planting more flowers and bushes in the yard tomorrow. But Sunday I am going to my nephew Josh's baby shower. Well its actually for his girlfriend. They are having a baby very soon. So I will make the long journey to Jackson for that on Sunday. It will be nice to visit with my sister. I will post some pictures of the shower after I get back.
Happy birthday Kristin!!! She works at my work. I stayed after last night and decorated her cubicle. We are having a little birthday celebration for her around noon for her.
Must get up and get ready to go to work. Have lots of errands to run on my way there.

Womens hair loss

Well here it is almost 4 in the morning and I cannot sleep. I am exhausted but all I do is toss and turn. I would like to comment about why isn't there a lot more research about women's hair loss. I don't understand it. I am telling you...that is where the money is at. The person who comes up with something that will regrow women's hair will be a billionaire. Women spend oodles of money constantly on hair products. If they have the slightest inkling that there hair is falling out or thinning they will spend whatever it takes to find something. I know because I am one of them. But there are millions of us out there. I hear women talk. They worry about their hair. Someone start a research project to find it. You will not be sorry. You make it...women will buy it.

More sickness stuff

Had to have a needle biopsy yesterday. Did not like it at all. Also I have an appt for the endocrinologist for this Tuesday. My throat is tight again and I have trouble breathing in again. Today I have a slight cough. Hopefully get this taken care of soon. Need to get back to my life. I am boring myself with this now. Going to bed, not feeling very well tonight.

My test

I took my thyroid scan yesterday. I just swallowed a capsule of some substance and left. Then came back 6 hrs later to be scanned. I had no restrictions or nothing. I could eat whatever I wanted or take any medication that I wanted. I did not feel good all day yesterday. I just couldn't stay up, all I wanted to do was sleep. And I just did not feel right all day. I felt something pop in my neck just before my scan and it felt like it went down my throat. It was the weirdest thing. Then it felt like I could breath better. It was so weird. But the technician didn't think anything of it. My doctors office called me later to set me up with my appt with a endocrinologist. I go May 6th. I still worry about the thing that popped and moved down my throat yesterday. I will ask that doctor May 6th about it. Also want to ask about if I was supposed to have salt before my test. I happened to have a bunch of iodized salt in the days before my scan. So just waiting for my test results from my doctor.

My weekend

Saturday was such a beautiful day. We got up early and took Farley to the vet to get his yearly check up and his vaccines and rabies shots. They said Farley was very healthy. Perfect weight. I was surprised as my husband feeds him everything that he is eating. We came back home and took off to buy our plants. Boy did I learn a lot about tree's and flowers and bushes that day. I really liked the snow's nursery as they took the time to tell you about what you are buying, how to maintain it, and how to plant it. The other places just want to sell you stuff so you buy it. I bought a Cinderella crab apple tree. Will not get very big at all. It will have white flowers in the spring and yellow flowers toward the end of summer. I bought a Korean spice bush. Supposed to be very fragrant. Bought a few boxwood bushes. We planted all the way till 8pm that night, then mulched it. What a difference it makes to your whole yard. I just couldn't believe it. My husband loved it. I went and got a couple more things last night and planted them. I cant wait till things start blooming. I found out yesterday that I have to ask the city to plant me a tree up in front of the road. I didn't realize we didn't own that. I called and left them a message and then wait for them to call me back. I want a flowering pear tree up there. Cant wait till they call me back.

Sunday I baby sat Brady. Boy is he just the cutest! Had so much fun with him. He loves being outside. I took him for a stroller ride and he just looked around and around. We walked for about an hour and he fell asleep. Then a little later we went back outside and he sat on my lap and just watched all the cars go by. He is such a good baby. Had so much fun spending time with him.

My week

Well I have to say I have had an interesting week. First and foremost, I got my laptop back Tuesday morning just as I was leaving for my ultrasound. I was so excited. It looks brand new. I haven't had much time to enjoy it as I have had a lot going on but I will be making up for lost time. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed having a laptop versus a home PC till it broke.
We had a bring your kids day to work on Thursday and they asked me if I would bring my popcorn maker that I bought on eBay from a theater. I did and everyone enjoyed it. They even hired a magician to entertain the kids. It was really cute.
The weather has been wonderful. I really love the summer. I enjoy warm weather. I am taking Farley to the vet tomorrow for his yearly vaccinations and checkup. Then we are going to some nursery gardens to look at bushes and a small flowering tree to put in front of the house. I was thinking of a miniature apple blossom tree. We will pick up some mulch too. Anyone have any ideas on what kind of bushes would be good in front of our house or a tree that flowers let me know. The tree has to be small. I am looking forward to being outside tomorrow working in the yard. I just cant wait to start enjoying the the beautiful weather. I am going to sleep now so I can hurry and get to tomorrow.

Bad news- part 2

Well I talked to my doctor today and they scheduled me Monday for the nuc. test. I asked about the nodules because I wanted to know if they are fluid filled or solid. (thank you whoever posted that comment on that). They said the ultra sound did not show it to be fluid filled. I will have to get it out as it is pressing on my windpipe or something along those lines as I have a hard time breathing in. They told me it was over 1cm. Ugh. But I am just going to hurry and get it taken care of so I can go on with my life. It is always something. Just one of those things you have to go thru. People will love it when I have to be quiet for a couple days. lol

Bad News

I received some bad news yesterday from my doctor. They called me to tell me I have 2 nodules in my throat. It all began about a month ago when I was rubbing the back of my neck as it was sore and I noticed a bump in the front of my neck. I kept rubbing it wondering if that is the way my neck is supposed to be. I figured it was so I put it out of my mind. I would check it out every couple of days and in the back of my mind I was worried about it but I let it go again. Then about a week later I noticed that when I swallowed I felt like there was a lump in my throat and my throat was sore a swollen. I figured I had some flu like everyone else had and just let it go. Then a couple of weeks ago I noticed my voice started to change. It was lower and just different. Then last week I had problems breathing in. Like I could not get enough air in. I could hear it as I breathed in. I got on the Internet and checked out web md and stated looking into my symptoms. Monday I was really sick and could not go to work at all. I made a appt with the doctor since was so sick. I knew she would say I had the flu and to go home and get some rest but I went anyways. I happened to mention to her about my neck and she checked it out and said that my lymph nodes were very swollen. She said she would give me a prescription for a antibiotic. I almost let it go but at the last minute I told her that I would like her to check it out a little bit more. A test or something as it would really ease my mind. She finally said ok and they set me up for a ultrasound that next day. I had my ultrasound Tuesday morning. I was getting my hair done Wednesday morning and received a call from my doctors office that they found 2 nodules in my neck. They needed me to come pick up some orders to have a thyroid scan asap. Also told me to start looking for a surgeon. I was so shocked at the phone call. On one hand I was happy that I was right and there was something there. On the other hand now I am scared and wished I had been wrong. I really don't know much more from yesterday. I am going to my doctors as soon as they open at 9am to ask a lot more questions. They did tell me that there are 2 lumps on both sides. The one of the left is bigger than the right. It is affecting my breathing. I would like to know what is in my neck and where is it. I am sure everything will be fine. I just want to get some questions answered and know what is going to be happening. I will keep everyone updated. So I learned that I should trust my own instincts when I really think something is wrong. I am glad I insisted my doctor give me a ultrasound to check it out.
Update: I am scheduled for a nuclear medicine thyroid test on Monday. The doctor said they needed it asap but Monday was the soonest.

laptop update

My laptop box was delivered yesterday morning. I hurried and packed it up and called fedex to come pick it up. They picked it up and I just got a email saying it was delivered. I am happy it didn't take that long at all. Now I will be checking the hp website to see the progress on my laptop. My bad week continues....... I am hoping it will turn around but its Thursday so I pretty much have giving up on this week. Cory has today off as he is going to the Mud Hens opening day with his family. Off to get ready for work.......

Laptop

Well I have a story to tell..... I had surgery last March and we had saved money to get a laptop so that during that time I would have something to keep me occupied. So when I started feeling good enough to go out we went to Best Buy to buy a laptop. My brother helped us. I loved this laptop. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend but it had everything I wanted on it, plus it was really fast. It ended up being a really good investment. Plus it is the one thing I use constantly every day. I just brought it to my parents house on Easter for my brother to down load some pictures on it.
Monday I had a really bad day at work. No particular reason just one of those days. I got home and told my husband I wasn't in a very good mood so I was going straight to bed. Went in the bedroom and my foot got caught in my laptop cord and it went flying off my dresser right onto the floor. I can still see it as if it just happened this second. It was like in slow motion. I tried to grab it. Well the screen cracked. It is the new liquid crystal screen and it cracked all over. It turned on but you cannot see anything but a lot of pretty colors. I was so horrified at what happened. I just cried and fell asleep. I felt like my right arm was missing as I am always on my laptop. I got up the next morning and called Hewlett Packard to see what they could do and how much it would cost me to get it fixed. I knew getting a new screen was around 500.00 but I had to try. I had a gentlemen help me and his english was not so good. He told me that he had to write things down first then type them into the computer because he was learning how to write english and couldn't type directly into the computer yet. So this was a long drawn out process. He said my warranty was still in effect for 17 more days but it did not cover my screen. He checked how much it would be and he came back on the line and said it would be 98.00. I was shocked and told him so. I told him everywhere else it was around 500.00. I repeated the 98.00 again and he said yes, so I told him that I would authorize the 98.00 to get it fixed. I was excited. He took my credit card number and in a few mins he said it would not authorize my card. I asked him if he was sure and he said he had tried again. So I gave him my other credit card. In the meantime my husband chats me on the computer saying there are charges in our account. So I tell the guy hang on a second and I got on our bank site and there was a charge from hp for 429.89 and 3 more for 1.00. Now mind you I have been on my cell phone for 1 hr at this point. He is confused and said no I didn't. So I asked to speak to the manager. He gets me to his supervisor and his supervisor says that my other card says its not authorized too. I had a really hard time understanding him also because of the thick accent so it took a bit to talk to him. but I told him I wanted him to take the charges off the account of 429.89 and the other ones. He didn't understand what was going on with the account so he said he would have to transfer me to his boss. He finally transferred me and at that point I had been on the phone for and hour and 45 mins. His boss lets me know his name is Rodney and gives me his contact phone number and hours and a case number and then says that he was told that I wanted him to push an amount thru my account because my bank would not authorize it. I said no and told him what happened. He said that the amount of 429.89 is correct for the repair. I was shocked and said no the first guy told me 98.00. I told him that I repeated it to him several times and then said I would authorize the 98.00 charge. I told him he needed to check the phone tapes and listen to them. He put me on hold and when he came back on the line he said that they will honor the 98.00 he promised me. They didn't know where he got that price at. I was so relieved. He said he would credit my account and send me a box to put my laptop in and call fedex and they will pick it up. What a day. I was glad HP honored the price they gave me. So I am going to be so lonely without my laptop for a while. I am using our old desk model now. So in hind site I wished I would have bought the best buy insurance that they always offer you there. (which I used to think was a scam). If I would have had it I would have gotten up the next day to go to Best Buy and they would have given me a new laptop. So I think I will invest in the insurance on certain things the next time.

Seven Pounds

I worked 12-8 Last Friday so my husband and I picked up a movie that I have been wanting to see since the first time I saw the previews. It is Seven Pounds with Will Smith. I really like Will Smith. I have to say I went into this without haven't the slightest clue of what the movie was about. I really liked it. There was a couple of parts that dragged slightly but I cried like a baby. I will only be able to watch this movie once. Same as with the Pursuit of Happiness. Both movies good very good but wont watch them again. I am a very......I wont say sensitive (but many people do call me that) I would say emotional. It takes a lot out of me when I watch heart wrenching movies. I literally sobbed through this movie.

To sum it up.....Will Smith did it again. Two thumbs up.

Time away

I had stopped writing for quite a while. I don't know why. I just couldn't do it. I think I just needed a break. Nothing much going on while I was away. I did watch Brady a couple of times. He is just so cute. He is such a happy baby. I cant believe how much he has changed since his ear infections went away.

The most notable thing I have been doing since my blogging absence is I have started to dabbled in the stock market. I have had a share builder account for 10 years and had forgotten all about it till a few weeks ago. I have since started buying some stock and watching them preform. Just fun money like 10.00 here and a 20.00 there. It has been so much fun. I have been learning so much since then. Stock is so low right now and its so easy to get some stock in companies at a really cheap price. So far I have done great. I have made some money. If anyone is interested let me know. They have a promotion that if I sent you a invitation to your e-mail address and you sign up you get 25.00 in your account to invest. I don't get money I just get a few trades for free. I have the basic account so there is no fee to open or to keep the account nor any minimum balance. Just send me your email address and I will send you a invitation. (no I am not working for share builder)
Nothing else going on except working alot. Happy I am still employed. I am hoping the economy will turn around soon.
I am going shopping with Laura today then to lunch. Very excited for some girl time with Laura. I haven't seen her much in the last few weeks. Will be sure to write again very soon.

I'm back

I haven't wrote on my blog all week. I don't even have a reason for it. This week has been interesting. I decided to do a bracket for the basketball championship and I have no idea about bb at all. But I will tell you that I have been having fun ever since. I have been checking out the scores and following it the whole time. Who knew I would ever like anything about sports. Cory has been loving it. I picked my team based on statistical research. Basically by color of the team or if I liked or have even been to the state and one for my uncle Louie's name. (thank goodness for that I am told! Louisville is good) So I am beating Cory in my bracket and he just cant believe it. We have a rivalry going on in our house right now.
Today we are going to pick up Skip. That is Cory's mom and dad's dog. She is a very sweet lab mix. I am so excited. She has been at the kennel and we are going to spring her out of the joint today. His parents get home Sunday.
Today we are finishing up the bedroom. There are a couple of spots in the bedroom that need a little touch up with paint. Then we are finally done with it. We will move the furniture back in tomorrow morning. Very excited about that.
I wanted that project done because I want to concentrate on planting this year. We put brick down around the front of our house last year. What a project that was. Now I get to plant in it. I am so excited about that. I have never planted. I want cute things. We are going to start mulching soon. Will write more later........

Lazy Saturday

I did not do much yesterday at all. Boy did it feel nice. But I did't get around to painting either. We ran out to pick up the paint then ran in a couple more stores to check out some sales. I met Michele at 3 and had a very nice time at lunch with her. Cant wait to do it again soon. Got home and took Farley over to Pet Smart to get him groomed. It took 3 hours before they called to say he was done. Boy does he look better. I didn't like that they only shaved the top of his nose but it will grow back. Farley was so tired after we got him home from the groomers last night he went right to bed when we got home. Cory and I settled in to watch a movie. We watched Body of lies. I did not like it. It was bloody and violent. I don't like them kind of movies. Went to bed right after the movie. I am up now ready to start painting the room. I am painting till I have to get ready to watch Brady today. That's right everyone....I get to watch Brady today. I am so excited. Stay tuned for many pictures of him.

Weekend

I had a very busy week and it was really crazy yesterday so I went with my cousin-in-law Melissa to have a couple of drinks and talk after I got out of work. Had a very nice time with her. Today I am vowing I will paint the wainscotings so I can finally get this room done! I cant go another weekend with this room all tore apart. So I am getting around to start painting. I am meeting Michele for lunch/dinner at Vaquero's today. It is a great Mexican restaurant. That will be a nice break from painting to chatting and spending some quality girl time with her. I am looking forward to that. Hopefully have a nice relaxing weekend at home with the hubby this whole weekend. No plans besides my lunch/dinner plans.
Wanted to say Bon Voyage to Cory's parents. They left yesterday to go on a cruise. They will have so much fun. They will be back in a week.

Happy Birthday Jason

Well I am 1 day late posting Happy Birthday to my brother. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASON!!!! I am posting a picture of him that I took Saturday when we went out to dinner. He always makes the people sing to us for all of our birthdays so I decided to have them do something special for him. They have him on a saddle and they are all singing to him.

Lazy Sunday

I have so much to do today but I just cant seem to get out of this house. Maybe its the time change or just that its been raining non stop since I woke up. I have to get to the mall and take some stuff back and also have to have them take the ink tag that is still attached to a pair of pants that I bought last week at Penny's. I cant take it off or ink will burst out everywhere and ruin everything. I cant believe the alarm didn't go off when I left the store. Tomorrow Cory and I will get up and go to the mall so I can get all my stuff done.

I was talking to my mom and she said my dad was really exhausted from yesterdays outing. He has been in bed all day. It is going to take a while before he's back to where he was.

Brady was taken to the hospital the morning. He had a really high fever. Found out it was an ear infection. Poor little guy. I hope he gets better real soon.
I made mexican stuffed shells tonight. I love them. They make quite a lot, almost another whole pan full. I usually always give the 2nd pan away so I had Cory take it over to John and Laura's tonight. I am going to post the recipe but I change it every time I make it and I don't go by exact measurements anymore.
A little over 2lbs of Hamburger
2 jars of picante sauce. Hot, medium or mild depending on how spicy you want it.
2 large cans of French's fried onions
1 lg bag of yellow shredded cheese
1 can of chopped green chili's. ( I use 2 cans as I like it spicy)
1 large can tomato sauce
1 box jumbo shells
Boil the shells and drain and put them aside.
Brown meat and drain. Mix in a separate brown 1 jar picante sauce and half can of tomato sauce and 1 cup (that is the only measurement I remotely go by) water. Add a cup or 2 of the tomato mixture to the drained meat. Add one can of the french fried onions and the can of chili's and around half the bag of the yellow cheese. Mix all together. You want it so it sticks together. I sometimes have to add more of the picante sauce mixture to it or more fried onions or cheese to it to get it where I want it. You will probably have to make more of the tomato mixture by now with the 2nd jar of the picante sauce and remaining tomato sauce . I use a cake pan and I put enough of the tomato mixture to cover the bottom of the pan. Then spoon the meat mixture into the shells one at a time. I stuff them pretty full. Then I pour the rest of the tomato mixture over all the shells in the pan. Cover the pan in tinfoil and cook at 350 for 45 mins. When 45 mins are up then take the foil off the pan and sprinkle a little yellow cheese over the shells and some of the french fried onions and cook for another 15 mins. Enjoy. If you have any questions about my recipe please ask.

Visiting Brady and family

Boy oh boy is Brady cute or what! And that's not me being biased either. Mom, dad, Eva, me and Brady all went to Johnny Rockets for lunch and he was so good the whole time we were out. We dropped Brady, mom and dad back off at Eva's house then went back out to get a couple more things. He was so good. Brady changes every time I see him. Jason got home and we all went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. It was crazy busy there! There was already a hour wait at 5pm. Luckily we called ahead. Brady slept the whole time we were there. Had a great dinner, it was nice spending time with the family and celebrating Jason's b-day. Technically its not his b-day till Tuesday. I was bummed that Cory couldn't go as he had to work.
